VILLA LUCK, HELSINKI
The house is situated in a new compact city plan area in Helsinki, Maunula. At the early stages of planning it was decided that the house would be a prototype cit-constructed house. Partners in this project were Aalto University’s department of civil and structural engineering and Stora Enso ltd. The main research and development areas of the house would be how the dampness of the wooden surfaces inside the house could be controlled better as well as the wooden joints. The house has been designed for a family with three children. At the end of the garden there is a separate building where there is a garage, storage, sauna and facilities fit for guest quarters.
There is a garden between the two buildings. The construction and the main interior material of the house is clt. The outer surfaces of the building are vertical wooden panels.
Our office plans residential buildings from apartment buildings to summer cottages. In each case the starting point is always based on the needs of the client and the character of the location, in which case the buildings become characteristically appropriate for the location and architectonically original.
