HOUSE KALAMÄKI, OULU
House Kalamäki has been planned to replace a badly damaged old house, one of the many similar houses in the area which were built after world war for returning soldiers. The house looks like the original house from the 1940’s towards the street, but when entering the garden the massing of the building is more unrestricted and reflects today’s architecture. The interior of the house has been made practical, but lively to fit a new family’s changing needs. The frame of the building is wood, the outer surfaces are vertical wooden boards and inside the living quarters the surfaces are oak.
Our office plans residential buildings from apartment buildings to summer cottages. In each case the starting point is always based on the needs of the client and the character of the location, in which case the buildings become characteristically appropriate for the location and architectonically original.
